DAY I (INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED)

12:30-2:00pm Dancing As Man and Woman
In this workshop we will explore the leader and follower roles and how we relate through the language of tango. Through a deeper understanding of tango structure, we will see how leaders can dance confidently and expressively while allowing the follower room for her own expression, and how followers can go beyond merely following and venture into truly dancing. The ultimate goal is to develop a vibrant conversation through movement.
Led by Diego Di Falco and Carolina Zokalski and co-taught by Luis Bianchi, Diego Blanco, Ana Padron and Daniela Pucci.
2:15-3:45pm FindingBarridas in Unexpected Places
In this workshop we will explore improvisation in tango from the perspective of barridas, finding new and unusual ways of incorporating them.

4:00-5:30pm Mind-Bending Improvisation Games
In this workshop we will explore how to stop repeating the same steps and sequences and start creating a fresh dance movement by movement, multiplying your options. For followers, we will look into techniques and secrets for adapting to different moves comfortably and expressively. We will look into possibilities in parallel and cross systems, linear and circular, and more!

DAY II (ADVANCED)

12:30-2pm Spicing Up Your Dance With Dynamics
Dynamics can be thought of the as flavor of our moves --- the sometimes subtle, sometimes breathtaking changes of speed that convey our personal interpretation of the music. Without dynamics, even the most complicated combination falls flat; with dynamics, even the simplest movements look and feel exciting and three-dimensional. Dynamics are one of the aspects of tango that take a lifetime to develop. In this workshop, we will push the boundaries on what we can do with dynamics. Each couple of instructors will share their secrets and techniques for dancing with fluidity, pausing, speeding up with control and precision, and much more.

2pm-3:30pm Our Favorite Moves
In this advanced workshop, each couple of instructors will share some of their favorite movements. After a weekend of focused work refining technique and pushing the limits of your dance, this is the dessert!
